Categories

This feature allows you to create Categories in which to organize your blogs. Our built-in blogs page will automatically create a sidebar navigation so you can easily filter your results to match whichever grouping of blogs you'd like to view.

Add a Category

Follow these step by step instructions on how to add a category:

  1. Go to the Configuration section via the administrative menu at the top of the page.
  2. Choose the"Categories" option at the end of the list.
  3. Click the "Add Category" button in the top right section of the page.
  4. Enter a Name for your Category, and a description (optional).
  5. Click "Add" to save.

This will return you to your list of Categories, and you can add, edit, or delete them from here. In order to assign a blog you will first need to create Taxonomy Terms.

Create Taxonomy Terms

Follow the steps below to add taxonomy terms:

  1. Once you've created one or more Categories, click the "Action" tab to the right of your Category and choose the "List Terms"
  2. This will return you to your list of terms. If you do not have any yet, click the "Add Term" button.
  3. Enter the name of your Taxonomy Term, then click "Add" to save.

This will return you to your list of terms, and you may add, edit, or delete terms from there. You can add as many terms as you'd like, using them to categorize your blogs however you wish. To complete this process, you now just need to assign your blogs to whichever term you want them to belong to.

Assign your Blog

Follow these steps to assign your blog:

  1. Go to the "Content" section via the main administrative menu at the top of the page.
  2. Choose "Blogs" from the list.
  3. Click the "Action" tab next to your blog and choose "Edit" (If you do not have any blogs, click the "Add Blog" button).
  4. Your Taxonomy Terms will now be visible in the drop-down menu next to the Category field.
  5. Choose the term that you'd like your blog to be categorized under, then click the "Update" button to save.

On your blogs page ("your-website-url.com/blog"), you will now be able to filter your articles by clicking the term name in the sidebar. When you click on the term, the page reloads, and only displays the articles that are assigned to that term. You can use as many Categories and Taxonomy Terms as you'd like, and they will all appear in the sidebar of the blogs page.
